This April, Good Mother Gallery proudly hosted Talking Fondly, a solo exhibition by celebrated Montréal-based artist Dan Climan. The exhibit was on show at Good Mother’s Los Angeles gallery from April 5th to 25th of 2025. Talking Fondly was met with an enthusiastic reception, drawing a loyal crowd of Climan’s West Coast supporters who turned out in force for his return to Los Angeles. Known for his romantic take on everyday scenes, Climan’s atmospheric paintings offered viewers a tender, cinematic meditation on memory, conversation, and the fleeting poetry of suburban life.

Arranged like the arc of a single day—from dawn to midnight and looping again—Talking Fondly moved with a quiet rhythm, echoing the cyclical nature of reflection. Saturated with tones reminiscent of '70s and '80s cinema, Climan’s compositions are visually sharp and emotionally resonant, often capturing a world suspended in time: a passing car, a pair of silhouetted figures, a flag drooping in the still air. His distinct style—shaped by influences ranging from trading cards to tattoo art—renders each canvas with billboard clarity and layered nostalgia. As always, Climan's storytelling is elliptical yet emotionally precise, inviting viewers to linger, reflect, and piece together their own interpretations. Good Mother Gallery was honored to bring his latest work to LA, where Talking Fondly was warmly embraced as a poignant chapter in Climan’s growing body of work.
